The Chemical
Engineering Department was started in 1963 and has an annual
intake capacity of 60 students in B. E. degree. The students to
faculty ratio is 3:1 in each semester. This is the only
department in the whole of North-east India offering an
under-graduate course in chemical engineering. Recently the Gauhati University has recognized the laboratories of this
department for research work in chemical engineering leading to
a Ph. d degree under this University.
The department
has been providing a four-year under-graduate course for
Chemical Engineering. The core subjects includes Process
Calculation, Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering,
Thermodynamics, Mass Transfer Operations, Chemical Reaction
Engineering, Process Dynamics & Control, Petroleum Refinery
Engineering & Petrochemicals, Process Equipment Design &
Drawing, Fluid Flow Operation, Transport Phenomenon, Heat
Transfer Operation, Process Utilities, Process Instrumentation. |
